Well it's kind of mid-night. I just came back from some family gathering. Basically, they were celebrating my birthday(MY BIRTHDAY IS ON 1 NOV 1987). They held it ealier on because A level is starting at 8 Nov 2005. This means i have more time to study during my birthday. Well it's kind of co-incidence, my birthday falls on Deepavali. IT'S A PUBLIC HOLIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But still I have to stone at home to study and mug.
I read the newspaper earlier on about 2 guys jailed for writing some un-called for remarks in their blogs. Sadly, this is Singapore. Everything goes by the law. Well all i can say is the government is stressing on Deterrence
According to wikipedia, punishment serves as a deterrence to dissuade other people for committing such a mistake.
I don't know, but I’m pondering upon why the government has to go to the extent to jail them. I mean like, if they are repentant and they are willing to make a public apology and get fined. I think that should be all right (a form of personal opinion). Well like i said Singapore stresses on LAW. Everything goes under the law, so it is kind of inevitable.
It's kind of ironic yet debatable. HA i can use it for GP I guess. Think about it. I can infer or I can conclude (MY VIEW, NO OFFENCE, PERSONAL JUDGING, TREAT IT LIKE A FALLACY IF YOU THINK IT'S RUBBISH). Singapore practices parliamentary republic, which is social-democracy (I guess) it can be other forms of democracy, but that was I what I learnt ya. OK so freedom of speech is allowed in Singapore. But I guess the government stresses a lot on tolerance among ethics and different communities. So the importance of tolerance in Singapore outweighs the freedom of speech that is entitled to the citizen. It means to say, it is important to exercise your freedom of speech properly or else it will be considered a crime (I guess).
HA! I think I also have a nice sentence to add on.
“The only thing I cannot tolerate is intolerance,”
Hehe, sounds quite chime, but I can be seen as an oxymoron or a paradox.
In short, the government cannot tolerate intolerance.
So be careful with what you said in your blog, if you will like to pass negative comments. Be sure it is not direct and offending. So be polite even though you are angry (in other words)
IN CONCLUSION WE HAVE TO BE CAREFUL BEFORE WE TYPE ANYTHING -SOMETHING I HAVE LEARNED EARILER ON, if those who read my blog earlier on.
Before I end, this is a personal comments it is not definitely not directing to anyone. A personal view which comprises of brainstorming and inference. It helps for my GP paper 1 so ya. If you find the entry offending, I am hereby expressing my deepest apology and regrets to you.
But still, I think this entry is safe and sound. So it’s still considered safe haha. Take care everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
